We Go To a Lot of Industry Events - Here’s Why
If you follow Conversis on LinkedIn (or have spotted us in the wild at locations around the world), you might have noticed that we attend a LOT of industry conferences. (In 2025, we’ve attended 20+ events across the year!)
If you didn’t know, this is pretty unusual in the translation sector, where most people sit behind desks and connect with their clients purely via email (and the occasional Teams call).
It’s not hard to see why; these events are expensive! And a lot of companies are either unable or unwilling to spend that kind of money on something they see as an add-on. Plus, given that most translation agencies are generalists working with upwards of 10 industries at once, their choice is to either skim the surface of each or blow the entire Marketing budget on events alone.
So Why Does Conversis Do It?
At Conversis, we see it differently. For us, events aren’t an add-on; they’re an investment. In our people, our expertise, our relationships. And in our connection to the one and only sector we serve. We can get in-depth, attending events that drill down into specific disciplines within the life sciences, and stay in touch not only with our clients, but with the sector at large – its challenges, trends, and upcoming innovations.
Life sciences, as an industry, is very hands-on. It’s all about the people. We want to meet these people where they are and create human connections. In fact, many of our strongest client relationships have their roots in connections made at conferences.

Why Are Events So Impactful?
In our experience, there’s something about stepping away from the day-to-day that allows people to switch into big-picture mode at an event and have conversations that really move the needle. This applies to our own team too! We always come back inspired – suggesting new ways to help our clients meet challenges, able to anticipate needs and changes in ways of working, and full of ideas for future solutions.
Post-Covid, there’s more of a desire than ever for human connection. And, with so many of us working in remote or hybrid environments, used to meeting only on Zoom or Teams, there’s nothing like an old-fashioned face-to-face over a coffee from time to time.
TL;DR – we attend events for the following main reasons:
- To stay connected with the life sciences sector
- To give our people space to grow their expertise
- To nurture our client relationships
- To have human conversations
- To be inspired
- Coffee (😉)
Are there any sector events you think are particularly great where you haven’t seen our faces? If so, please let us know. And maybe we’ll see you there in 2026!
