Helping Little Journey go global

March 6, 2025 |

Little Journey was founded in 2018 by Dr Chris Evans and Product Designer Sophie Copley. Its mission is to change the future of pediatric care, one empowered family at a time.

It does this through its app, filled with beautiful, thoughtful animations and a cast of friendly characters, both animal and human – introducing children (and their parents) to everything from wristbands and gowns, to medical personnel and what to expect from specific procedures.

THE TASK AT HAND

When Little Journey first approached us in 2020, it was with a mammoth proposition: the translation of their app, including all dialogue and voiceover, into 16 languages – including the likes of Catalan, Vietnamese, and Lithuanian. Each language would require 6 different voiceover artists to play the various characters, meaning a cast of over 90 individuals was in order. These artists would require scripts to be translated in advance. AND there was a whole collection of articles, questionnaires, privacy policies and marketing materials to be translated too! It was quite the ask – a project that would take months of hard work and careful management to get right. But one journey through the app followed by one conversation about its impact on users, and we were in! Who could walk away from the chance to help bring something so wonderful to so many more people? (Plus, our team always love a good challenge!)

HOW CONVERSIS HELPED

Getting this exciting project off to the best start meant launching two separate but linked activities at the same time. And so, translation of all content into all languages got underway in parallel with a significant VO resourcing exercise by our voiceover and vendor management teams. The timings of each strand were carefully coordinated, to ensure materials were ready for recording, and voiceover artists were recommended, tested, and brought on board.

Voiceover recording took place at a studio in London, with a Conversis PM on hand to ensure everyone was on the same page. For some of the languages, Conversis also supplied a voiceover director, advising on real-time dialogue changes where this was required.

When all translation, recording and approval processes were complete, content was incorporated into the app, and the new language versions went live in October 2021.

THE RESULT

As a result of our collaboration with Little Journey, the Little Journey app was made available to families and hospitals in 16 new countries. The app has a 97% satisfaction rating and can reduce anxiety by 32%[1]. Helping to familiarize more kids with the clinical environment and reduce the effect of the unknown also has benefits that extend into recovery times and cancellation rates. So helping to widen the pool of people benefitting from the app felt like giving a gift to the world! Not to mention, it looked and sounded beautiful! All in all, it was a project the Conversis team was – and still is – truly proud of! We’re very grateful to have been able to contribute to Little Journey’s important and impactful mission.
