Sunday is meant to be a day of rest for Tongans. Unfortunately for their rugby team this was a day to forget.
ENGLAND 35-3 TONGA
Perhaps we should forgive Tonga’s players for a heavy defeat in a match played on a Sunday. The island’s population maintain its traditions, including respect for the Sabbath. Christian faith is a feature of everyday life in Tonga, and from midnight each Saturday until midnight on Sunday all commercial and entertainment activities come to a halt. In fairness, most of the entertainment in this match came from an England team that ran in four tries and never looked threatened.
