The islands of Fiji were formed in a series of eruptions 150 million years ago. Their rugby can be just as volcanic, but sadly not today.
FIJI 27-30 URUGUAY
Anyone who's seen Fiji play sevens rugby will know how explosive their performances can be. This variation of the game features seven players per side playing seven minutes per half. Fiji has won two Sevens World Cups and are reigning Olympic champions. Perhaps it's not surprising that the Fijian islands were formed by a series of volcanic eruptions 150 million years ago. The rugby in today's clash with Uruguay might not have made the earth move, but Uruguay's win certainly caused aftershocks. This defeat has all but ended Fiji's World Cup.
